A Bartlett, California, man bought the old safe from James Labrecque for $122. 93. When the man opened the safe, he found $26,000 in cash, a revelation that will haunt Labrecque for quite some time.
An eBay user got more than be bargained for when he purchased a safe online and found $26,000 in it.
"I feel like the stupidest idiot in the world," said Labrecque, the man he had bought the safe from. Labrecque had received the safe and had decided to sell it on because he didn't have the combination and did not know that there was anything inside. Despite a concerted exchange of e-mails between him and his buyer Labrecque has so far failed to get any of the money back. "I made a mistake, you know, that's what it boils down to," he said.
