Town of 'Dull' to be linked with 'Boring'

Residents of a small village called Dull are confident they will become a "sister community" with the US town of Boring today.

Two towns with less than exciting names are set to be formally linked following a vote later today.

The small town of Dull in Scotland has a population of just 84 and is a popular tourist destination with several guest houses and lodges. The town of Boring in the United States on the other hand has a population of over 10,000. The similarity in the names was spotted by Elizabeth Leighton during a cycling holiday in the US and since then plans have been put forward to formally announce a connection between the two towns.

"We are also excited at the prospect of a new road sign, which will say something like 'Dull, in association with Boring'," said Dull chairman Marjorie Keddie.
